If you have been looking for a way to make money online or from home you will no doubt have come across lots of openings and opportunities to do “data entry”. So is data entry a good way to make money online or are you better off doing something else? As with most things online some data entry opportunities are more legitimate than others.

Personally, I have never done it so it would be remiss of me to make any recommendations but what is certain is that there are a lot of ads out there for people to do data entry as a way to make money online. Some companies will hire someone to do data entry from home instead of working in an office. Other times data entry is code for spamming anyone and everyone and trying to get signups for an offer or suchlike.

No matter what kind of data entry you’re looking at it’s important to know that this is not a home based business or even career. It is at the very most a home based job (very different from a business), a way of earning a few extra pennies and at the very worst a scam that will take your money and never pay you a anything.

If you are going to get involved with data entry do a lot of research first. If it’s a job it will not require an upfront fee (businesses take money to start jobs don’t) and they should be able to pay you an actual salary and tell you what it will be.

If there is no product to market, and all you’re doing is copy and pasting things all over the internet run and run fast? this type of operation is not legal and it’s never ever going to make you rich.

Keep in mind that no scammer is just going to come out and say ?yes this is a scam? so it will be up to you to ask the questions and get all the information.

Another thing that can help you avoid any type of scam is talking to the person on the phone. Never let all of your communication be through email. Speak to the person who wants you to get started, if they are involved in a legitimate business they should have no problem speaking to you.

Finally, data entry can mean a lot of different things. If you’re going to become involved in it make sure what you’re doing is legal and that you’re going to be able to make real money. Just be careful in general and always remember that if you’re looking for a real way to make money online a legitimate home based business is always going to be your best bet
