Here are a great selection of ideas to earn extra money at Christmas, and more specifically in the lead up to, during and in some cases after Christmas.
Notice I didn’t say earn extra money for Christmas, these are all geared to using the Christmas season as a vehicle to earn money (sorry for being pedantic but I think you will get my drift if you read on…..)
The way to earn extra money at Christmas is to put yourself in the mindset of considering what services or goods people need at Christmas and then simply providing them, on either a small scale local pocket money type scenario, or if you are really clever, on a global scale.
Here are 20 ways that I could think of to use the Christmas season to make extra money…. I bet you can think of more… the thing to do though is start taking action NOW (it’s October 5th as I write this) so you will well prepared for the Christmas season, and be able to earn extra money in the lead up to, during and after Christmas..
Oh, and as an important aside, this should also provoke thoughts about what you could do for Easter, Valentines Day, Halloween………

One of the interesting results of my research into ways to earn extra money from home is the realization that not everybody wants to ‘quit their day job’.
Some do for sure, but many, many people just want a method to earn just a little bit of extra money part time – maybe a little extra cash earned at home in the evening around their regular commitments, or when the kids have gone to bed.
You may not want to start a work at home career -you may just want a way to earn extra money to pay off the latest bill or afford a nice holiday. And that is a different situation from maybe 12 months ago when the majority of people were going online seeking to ‘quit their day job’.
Now, just as many people just want to earn extra money because they have lost their job, or need to earn extra money simply to make ends meet.
But help is at hand in the shape of the internet. What the Internet has done is open up a whole new world of earning opportunities, including ways to earn extra money I bet you haven’t even thought of.

If your idea of making money online is paid surveys, data entry, network marketing or multilevel marketing (MLM) (all of which I have done my best to avoid mentioning on this site) then think again. There are many great work from ideas outside of these. So look again and you will see there are tons of ways you can make money online.

- Create Websites and Sell Them – It’s called ‘Flipping’ and it is very popular, especially if you create simple niche startup websites
- Buy and Sell Domain Names – Buy up soon to be expired or expired domain names (ie: www.something.com) and sell them at a higher price. Of course you need to know the domains that are about to expire. Find out how to do it here!
- Affiliate marketing- selling other peoples products for a commission. Loads of possibilities here including Amazon products, Ebay, Ebooks and Software
- Offer Services to Webmasters who are trying to get their websites ranked and to the top of Google. You could offer directory submission services, article writing services, search engine optimisation – tons of possibilities here . I’ll be doing a series of blog posts on these in the next few days
- Make money from your hobby or something you know really well (or would like to know) by creating an eBook (electronic book) and selling it
- Blogging – build a blog and monetize it with adverts, affiliate products, or your own product
- Cost per action or CPA – Get paid for people signing up to perform a particular action or take a free offer.
- Optin Email Marketing – Build a list of potential customers and sell to them. There are specialist tools called autoresponders which can do just that – you can even pre-load your content for years ahead if you want to! The site in the link gives lots of free information. - Create a membership site or forum – If you have a passion for a certain topic then build membership site and/or forum where people can pay to join but you give them information and benefits. This is a great business model because you will get recurring income (assuming your content is good of course)
- A Virtual Assistant carries out a range of different secretarial, creative and admin tasks from their own home with a variety of clients, using their own computer and equipment. This has nothing to do with envelope stuffing or other such schemes!

OK, these are the ones which are a bit of offline and a bit of online (you’ll see what I mean in a minute!) but these are essentially offline work at home ideas with an online element.
Here are some great examples of ‘thinking outside the box’ – see what you can come up with
Make Money with your digital camera – You can sell photographs to online stock photo sites which provide photographs for webmasters and other people who may need them.
Compile and Sell Crosswords, Quizzes or puzzles and sell them to publications online or offline
Offer online services to local businesses such as websites, search engines, google advertising etc. This is a great way to get a reputation locally very quickly.
Think seasonal and what you can offer to your local area. At Christmas you could setup a Christmas Lights installation service, or a snow clearing service. In the summer you could maintain trees, cut lawns, offer shopping collection services.
Use your driving skills – Driving Instructors are much in demand these days, but equally you could offer airport taxi services, delivery services
Custom T-Shirts are always popular and you could sell them locally or online. Develop a theme or topic upon which your designs are based
Provide computer maintenance services locally by implementing free virus tools, registry cleaners etc. You could setup routers, small networks etc if you are technically inclined.
Provide a gift service – gift baskets, candy bouquet baskets spring to mind.
Home Staging – Is becoming more and more popular – basically preparing people’s houses for sale. I think there is a TV program on this!
Is there anything you can teach people in their own homes? – Languages, Piano, Maths, Fitness as starter ideas, but there are tons more .. cooking, baking, knitting…..
