On March 8, 1931, the Catholic Charities was formally established in Miami and is currently the largest non-governmental provider of services and aid to the poor in South Florida with over 600 volunteers. www.catholiccharitiesadm.org

The ports in Port Au Prince finally re-open. The world can once again return to forwarding containers of aid and construction supplies directly into Port Au Prince. Many organizations have been collecting donations and can now forward the full containers to survivors via ocean freight. Until now, most of the humanitarian aid has been arriving through air freight shipments.
