Create a Travel Blog
If you love travel why not create a travel blog, in fact a travel review blog may be just what you are looking for in that you can combine a love of travelling with working at home blogging about it…
So if your love of travel make you wish that you could somehow find a way to make a living traveling and meeting interesting people, and if you have basic writing skills and the ability to work a digital camera, and if you like to research the history of places then this might just be the ideal way for you to make extra money. then you could be the ideal candidate to create a travel blog.
Why Create a Travel Blog?
Blogs are great; because just about anyone can create them and they are really inexpensive to create and maintain – you could even create a travel blog for free!
Your travel blog can be your place on the web to tell about great places you have visited and explain why they were so interesting and why other people should visit them as well.
On the other hand, you may want to explain popular travel pitfalls and warn people to stay away from certain tourist destinations for the lack of amenities or for some other reason.
Your travel review blog will generate an income once you have built up your click rate, because most advertising pays you based on the number of potential customers they are reaching. So the more people that you can interest in your site, the better!
In addition to places you have already visited, your travel review blog can give people tips on packing, the most comfortable or inexpensive ways to get from place to place, and even great places to eat while you are in a far away city or country.
Can you see the potential when you create a travel blog?
In addition, you could also talk about different places that you hope to visit soon, and if you get interactive with your readers you can ask them to offer their comments and reviews as well.
Nothing interests potential travelers more than information that has been gathered by unbiased sources over a period of time. Allowing strangers to add their experiences adds another layer of personality and is a great free source of content.
Since most cities and towns have websites that provide additional historical information or lists of places that would attract a traveler’s interest, you will likely want to include links to these sites. An informed traveler is a confident traveler, so the more information that you are able to provide on a potential destination, the better.
While traveling to places that you plan to write about in your travel review blog, be sure to take careful notes of even the tiniest details. Did you notice dust on the surfaces of the hotel or motel room that you stayed in? Would it appeal to people with allergies or were there special amenities offered that you did, or did not, take advantage of? What was the weather like during the time of year that you visited? What were your impressions of various landmarks and places of interest? It is good to let your personality show through when writing about your travels. A purely factual account of travel is rather boring to read. After all, you will want your travel blog to inspire your readers to embark on enjoyable travels of their own, not bore them into a coma.
When traveling to new destinations or even places that you have visited in the past, be sure to spend some time in the town, walking around and talking to local residents who are also usually more than willing to share information about their own favorite eateries or vistas. This can often be the best way to find out about places that are off the typical beaten path. These are the types of places that your readers can find out about, that will set your blog apart from the more sterilized travel websites, that only offer the tourist traps that everyone already is familiar with.
You will likely also want to offer your readers a way to get daily, or weekly, updates to your blog. By setting these updates in place, it will offer your readers a sort of newsletter experience without adding to your workload, since most updates can be put in place with little or no upkeep on your part. It will remind readers to visit your site and provide them with updates with little to no effort on their part either. These (usually free) update services or ‘feeds’ can provide a win-win situation for both the reader and the writer!
So get out there, see the world, and share your experiences with your many fellow travelers that are waiting to find and read your travel review blog!
I hope I have whetted your appetite to create a travel blog today!
Resources and Help to Create a Travel Blog
I have found a great resource which will take you step by step through the process you need to go through to create a travel blog. Travel Blog Success is actually a membership site which teaches travelers how to build, optimize, and monetize travel blogs.
There are 2 membership levels (Basic/Premium) and included are 27 lessons, 12 audio interviews, a forum, monthly coaching calls and much more. It has been created by a popular travel blogger called Dave Lee who owns gobackpacking.com which receives (wait for it) 120,000 page views per month (just think how you could monetize that!).
